How to write an Acting Resume.

First things first! Take an acting class

You can never learn too much. Most Actors continue taking classes to sharpen their skills.

There are several acting classes out there you can find on the web. Here is one MPE recomends.

  Cold Reading Classes

After we have taken your headshots and you have taken the disc to the photo lab and received your prints with your name
on them you must write your resume. There is really only one format for writing your resume and we have provided a sample resume below.

How to write an acting resume

  • Never lie on your resume, most work can be verified.
  • Try not to list extra work unless you truly need to.
  • If listing commercials, music videos, voice over work or extra work, you might want to type
(*List Available Upon Request) so your resume doesn't look too cluttered.
  • List links to websites where more of your work or demo reels are located. (If Available)
  • Always keep it up to date with current phone numbers and contact info.
  • Always have your name at the top.
  • Always list what unions you belong to.
  • It's better to have your resume on a different sheet of paper, stapled to your headshot in case you have to update it.
If you have 300 resumes printed on 300 headshots you are stuck with them.
  • Never glue your resume to your headshot. Use staples (two staples. either on the top and bottom or two on the top.)
  • Keep it simple, one page only. Make it as easy and convenient as possible for casting agents.

Below is a sample resume; it does not need to be followed exactly but its here to help you achieve a professional looking resume.

First your name must be at the top in bold letters. Below it your statistics (eyes, hair, height, weight and leave a space for
your talent agency, contact information. Sometimes your talent agency will give you a sticker or label of their logo or contact
information to put in that space.

This is just a sample of what an acting resume should look like; you should always write down the production companies
and Director's names whenever you get a job, it is important that it is maintained and correct.
