Production

Production of "Stanley 2 - The Legacy" began almost immediately after "Natural born Stanley" was released to the public, it was a simple idea. "What if the eggs Stanley laid in the toilet hatched?". But it wasn't that easy to get into Production

"The Stanley Saga" had already been written the premise was there all that was needed was the actual story, the screenplay, and the cast.

Jack first wrote "The Stanley Saga" back in 1995, he wrote Character backgrounds, designed the costumes and even wrote ideas for sequels if one would ever be made, and a back up story explaining where the characters came from…

It turned out the Entire story was too long for one movie so it was cut into four parts.

"Stanley - A New Breed", "Natural Born Stanley", "Stanley 2 - The Legacy" and "Stanley 3 - The Hatchling".

"Stanley - A New Breed" = A brief Synopsis and the Introduction of the characters that goes back 76 years from the First movie.

"Natural Born Stanley" = Part I, The actual first movie which was filmed and released on December 19, 1997.

"Stanley 2 - The Legacy" = Part II, The second movie which was filmed and released on February 13, 1999.

"Stanley 3 - The Hatchling" = Part III The Final Chapter to the Stanley Saga, it was written but will never be made.

It took Jack about 3 months to completely finish and come up with the final version of the Screenplay from conceptual idea to final script.
After the script was finalized it was time for concept design such as costumes, sets and the actual building of the two new puppets that would be introduced in Stanley 2 as Stanley's Hatchlings.

It took Jack Venturo 2 months to design, create, build, construct and come up with a voice, name, look, and feel for the two new puppets Eddie and Seally, after the puppets where finished the next step was to come up with ideas on how the special visual on set effects would be shot, Stanley 2 had twice even three times more Effects shots than Stanley 1, from Mateo's new scar to Stanley's Mother's grave to the actual Hatching of the eggs.

Stanley's Mother's grave was based on an actual crypt that actually exists in St. Simons island Christ Church in Brunswick Georgia it was build using Styrofoam materials combined with rock spray, sand, spray paint, plaster wrap and plaster paris, the same goes with the hatchling eggs.

After the Effects where ready to shoot and everything was set and planed out the cast needed to be set, the first to sign up was Justin Duffy who played Mateo in Stanley 1
Of course Mateo gets killed at the end of the first one but in the movies anything is possible.
Carmina Burana is an Opera by Carl Orf and when Stanley 2 was in Pre Production Carmina Burana was being performed by The Pinellas County Center for the Arts (P.C.C.A) one of the main characters in it was David Haverty who signed on to play Father Hazzard after Writer Director Jack Venturo saw him perform, the rest of the cast was set almost immediately after that.

Production started in early 1998 and was smooth sailing with no conflicts and rarely any problems it finished Post Production on January and was released on February 13 1999.

In 2001 it was decided to go back and restore, rework and reedit the movie there where shots that where not used before and some that didn't need to be used at all, also new shots where filmed just for the Special Edition Re-release.

"I have always felt that Stanley 2 - The Legacy was never finished completely and now I have a chance to go back and do things we couldn't do before, either because of time restrictions or money, and now I can say I am satisfied with the look and feel of the restored version"
