Production

"Natural Born Stanley" started back in 1995 when friend Stephanie Wilkinson gave Jack a pair of Puppet Eyes as a gift after her mother Luanne stated, "Hey, if we buy these, Jack won' t have to draw on his hand anymore!". Jack took the puppet eyes everywhere he went including taking them to school every day, making a puppet out of it called "Stanley Snake" (Named after Stanley Kubrick). Soon a little red hat Jack got from a candy machine in New York five years back accompanied the eyes, and with the help of his friends and classmates supporting, and giving ideas such as Kevin Batdorf who provided Jack with a white high school marching band glove and a pair of plastic hands he cut off from his little sister's toy doll. And again Luanne, who is the uncredited Prop Master for the movie "Natural Born Stanley", as she provided several Key items seen through out The Stanley Saga.
Jack decided one day to make an entire body to wear on his arm and the puppet's name was eventually shortened to only "Stanley".

After a period of time when Jack would take the puppet almost everywhere with him, cracking jokes and letting Stanley basically poke fun at everybody Jack was becoming recognized as "The Puppet Dude".

"I remember talking to somebody, who asked me, how I made Stanley, and I just started joking around telling the story about how I made him with the help of a Hunchback and we created him out of different parts and made him come alive with lighting like Frankenstein, but he got loose and killed people and I had to hire a Puppet Hunter to get him back. Afterwards I started thinking to myself, I should make a movie about this"

Jack Venturo - 1998

Jack wrote a story and the outcome was the making of Stanley "Natural Born Stanley"

The story of a regular guy named Jack.
After having a bad day; failing school, getting struck by lightning, repeatedly slapped by his mother, dumped by his girlfriend and beaten by a crazy drunken bum on the street, he decides its time for a new kind of revenge. So with help of his deformed hunchback henchman friend Quasimodo he creates a puppet named Stanley and attempts to bring him to life, but things go wrong and Stanley gets loose, lays eggs, and starts a violent bloody killing spree. Jack must bring Stanley back with the help from Mateo, a crazy puppet hunter with a mysterious past.

He wrote character backgrounds, designed the costumes and even wrote an idea for a sequel, if one would ever be made, and a back up story explaining where the characters came from…

It turned out the entire story was too long for one movie so it was cut into four parts.

"Stanley - A New Breed", "Natural Born Stanley", "Stanley 2 - The Legacy" and "Stanley 3 The Hatchling".

"Stanley - A New Breed" = A brief Synopsis and the Introduction of the characters that goes back 76 years from the First movie.

"Natural Born Stanley" = Part I, the actual first movie which was filmed and released on December 19, 1997.

"Stanley 2 - The Legacy" = Part II, the second movie which was filmed and released on February 13, 1999.

"Stanley 3 - The Hatchling" = Part III the Final Chapter to the Stanley Saga, it was written but will never be made.

With the story set it was time for production........

"Natural Born Stanley" was the first feature length movie made by Moviegod Productions Entertainment (which was going to be called "Jackfilms Ltd.").

The movie had a small budget and to cut costs it was shot in chronological order and usually the first take was what went and the character's costumes where purchased at second hand stores.

The movie went into production in 1996, but filming was postponed for months because of casting complications and there was the possibility that it would never be finished. Stephanie Wilkinson who played Jack's girlfriend in the movie, suddenly quit do to personal reasons. Her scenes could not be finished and she was eventually cut out of the movie.

Stephanie's scenes have been restored and put back in the movie in the Special Collector's Edition.

Total production took six months with one month of post production time.

For the Special Edition restoration of the movie, new shots had to be filmed, with the budget so low in the original version the Stanley attack scenes that take place after he escapes where spliced together from different clips.

"I have always felt that Natural Born Stanley was never finished completely and now I have a chance to go back and do things we couldn't do before, either because of time restrictions or money. And now I can say I am satisfied with the look and feel of the restored version"

Jack Venturo - 2002

The new scenes filmed for the Special Edition where the Jogger's death and the subway attack scene in which Stanley hunts down and kills two people.
